Elephant Head (Lat:31.72432N Long:-110.94815W):

Climbing Elephant Head:

The best way up is the East Ridge Trail. The trail head is remote and is best reached by 4WD. The steep climb up the poorly maintained trail offers exceptional scenery and a tiny exposed desert summit with spectacular views of Tucson 40 miles to the north and Baboquivari 38 miles to the west. Although no technical rock climbing is involved (unlike Baboquivri) there is some scrambling and there are many exposed places.

Distance: 8.48 miles round trip

Elevation Gain: 2726 ft

Hike Time: 6 hours Difficulty: Strenuous Trail

Condition: Poorly maintained trail out and back
